Museum Bung Karno is located in the heart of Denpasar, near Renon Square, and is one of the best museums in Bali. It is dedicated to the life and work of Indonesia's first president, Ir Soekarno who is also referred to as Bung Karno, and consists of many historical books, speeches and writings that are beloved to him. The museum was opened to the public in 2015, and is spread across four storeys. On the first floor of Museum Bung Karno blitar, you can witness thousands of books related to Soekarno, while the second floor houses Bung Karno’s historical relics and artefacts. These include his personal belongings, ranging from his bicycles and table to his bed as well.

History Of Museum Bung Karno

Museum Bung Karno has a rather rich and varied history. The story of this museum lies in the very beginning of the historical city of Blitar, where the museum is located. The museum was originally located in the Gebang Palace, an area where Soekarno, the first president of Indonesia spent some of his childhood years. It was in the year 2004 that the Indonesian government began efforts to restore the Gebang Palace, and thereafter move the museum to where Soekarno was buried. Architects Pribadi Widodo and Baskoro Tedjo were hired by the government to work on the design of the building, which resulted in a museum with a semi-modern structure, divided into four parts. This included the main entrance hall, the main building, and a library. Upon its completion, the museum housed several highlights. These included a painting and statue of Soekarno. The painting is often said to be a living painting, and many have said that it has a beating pulse in the heart spot of Soekarno.As of today, Museum Bung Karno is one of the best places to learn about the works and legacy of the first Indonesian president, in addition to being a place where you can see and pay respects to the tombstone of Soekarno.
